[FENNEK] Hexagon review
Review of the fire pit Fire Hexagon made by German camp maker FENNEK. Guten Morgen!
Overview
A large German bonfire stand that uses a combination of 6 plates and 1 fire bed.
Since it is an assembly type, it is very compact when stored and is extremely thin at 2 cm.
spec
Storage size mm | Assembly size mm | Weight | Materials | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|
330 x 260 x 20 | 590 x 500 x 190 | 3900g | Stainless | 69,95 € |
If the selling price is Japanese yen, the price is different depending on the authorized dealer or parallel import, and since there are few balls, there are stores that raise the price like a premium price, so it's complicated, but it's 10,000 to 30,000 yen. should be.
In order to buy at the lowest price, it is necessary to check various sites every day. As of November 2022
It is not announced by the manufacturer, but it is possible to assemble even 4 pieces.
I don't plan to use it because it looks like it sucks.
What is FENNEK
Fennek is a German camping equipment manufacturer that has been handled by agencies since around 2021.
The number of imported products is still small, and the number of individuals is also small, so it is sold out and the price is sparse. As of November 2022
FENNEK Grill was the first famous place to be imported by an agency. This is a popular item due to its affordable size.
FENNEK is a manufacturer with outstanding product development capabilities and development speed.
When I first found FENNEK, there were only 3 or 4 products such as FENNEK Grill and Hexagon, but the number of products has increased significantly in just 2 years.
There are many products that have not yet been imported, but I would like it to be possible to buy various products easily.
I often do personal imports, but in my personal image, Germany is a serious type. Therefore, you can put your trust in the product, but if you try to import it yourself, you will be treated coldly, saying, "No, it's impossible. Go through someone else."
Also, when I purchase a product from a foreign manufacturer, I always send a witty thank you email. (FENNEK and Tschum) never responded. It's fresh, isn't it?
Positive Reviews
Good points of FENNEK Hexagon
No saw required
The number one advantage is the size and thickness of the firewood that can be put in as it is without having to cut it short with a saw.
It's not extremely large compared to similar bonfires, but the Hexagon has a wide mouth and a fire bed, so you can put firewood in it.
Similar bonfires often have a pattern where uncut firewood is put upright, so firewood often gets in the way when cooking. It doesn't get in the way.
Unlike an ax or batoning that splits wood along the lines, the saw is easy to get tired, so it's very easy to save this hassle.
In addition, the binding method and plate are thick enough to withstand the force of spreading, so you can put in a large amount of firewood.
There is a grate
Similar bonfires are shaped like an inverted triangle, so when you have a bonfire, ash will accumulate and the intake from the bottom will get worse, but Hexagon is comparable. If you don't make a good bonfire, the bottom will not be buried with ash.
Tolerant
Compared to solo or lightweight bonfires, it's built to last a lifetime.
The plate is thicker than similar bonfires.
Even if you step on it and get it distorted, it's a flat and simple plate and the joining method is simple, so if you hit it, an amateur sheet metal worker can fix it.
Simple design
As I wrote in the Tschum article,
There is a Japanese garage brand (I think) it's a pattern-like air hole.
It's a simple design that doesn't seem like an outrageous design that just wants to be said, "What is that bonfire stand?"引用元:disp link
The guy.
Hexagon does not have a ostentatious air intake, but a design that allows play in the engagement of the plates to function as an air intake. ※see image
In addition, Japanese garage brands and Asian manufacturers are "○○ system" that incorporates existing designs into their own designs as they are※1 There are many , but Hexagon is an original design even with a plate combination type.
You can get a glimpse of their willingness to stick to the budget and make it.
*1 Picogrill series, Helinox series, Theogonia series, etc.
Rare
This is a completely personal opinion, but camping equipment is more like "collecting what you like" than "getting all the tools". With all of them, it's possible to say, "Are you collecting things you like, or are you just stocking standard products?" Camping is possible. That's a completely personal opinion.
Negative reviews
A negative review that completely denies what was praised by the positive review.
Big
The size is praised in positive reviews for being able to put firewood without cutting it, but the mouth is too wide to put a general trivet on top.
If you line up the cookers next to each other, they are large enough to hold three small, medium, and large cookers.
Since the size of the bonfire stand is 50 to 59 cm, I thought of using two flat aluminum plates cut into 60 cm lengths side by side as a trivet, but I found a reasonably priced bonfire hanger, so I'm using it. increase.
This bonfire hanger is a type that sticks into the ground, so it can be used regardless of the size of the bonfire stand. is.
Rare
It's similar to "I can't use Gotoku" above, but it's too rare to import optional items and it's not easy to use.
Hexagon has the FENNEK HEXAGON Stand UP! stand, the FENNEK 4FIRE grill, and the Edelstahl Flammlachshalte grill holder, but there are currently no products readily available.
I feel like I'm just glancing at the only special bag.
Heavy
It is a mediocre weight among plate combination types, but the average weight of the bonfire comparison tool is 2,659g, so it is still heavy.
In terms of size, it's a bonfire stand that everyone can surround, so it shouldn't be compared to a solo or lightweight one, but... I still feel heavy.
Similar bonfire
Compared to a plate-connected bowl-shaped bonfire.
Arranged in descending order of assembly size from the top.
Model | Assembled size | Weight | Materials | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|
Hexagon | 590 x 500 x 190 | 3900g | stainless | 約 ¥20,000 |
FP500 | 517 x 496 x 245 | 4200g | stainless | ¥33,000 |
FIRE WHIRL L | 470 x 470 x 300 | 4500g | stainless | ¥42,680 |
Tschum Regular | 340 x 340 x 115 | 1880g | SUS316Ti | ¥18,480 |
takibi_no_asi | 250 x 250 x 200 | 3400g | stainless | ¥34,800 |
As you can see, it's light, big, and affordable.
The weight is within my personal margin of error, but the size and price are amazing.
See the article below for a review of another love bonfire, Tschum.
