overview
The "lantern", which is also the main gear for camping at night, greatly changes the atmosphere of the space and the campers' motivation depending on the brightness, color, and usability of the light.
As a result of purchasing and testing various lanterns at our home in Guinuma, the Coleman 2500 Northstar LP Gas Lantern is now very active as the main lantern and has become an indispensable item for camping!
This time, I will tell you about its functions, how to use it, and its appeal.
Lantern type
There are probably many camping beginners who say, "I don't know what kind of lantern to buy!"
First of all, there are four main types of lanterns.
There are advantages and disadvantages to each, so choose the lantern that suits you.
The "Coleman 2500 Northstar LP Gas Lantern" introduced this time is classified as "(3) Gas Lantern" as the name suggests.
(1) Gasoline lantern
Uses white gasoline for fuel.
It is not easily affected by the outside air or external pressure, and always emits a stable light.
Properly used, it can last for decades, but the main body is often expensive.
This lantern is suitable for advanced users and requires time for preparation and maintenance.
(2) Oil lantern
The lantern itself is expensive, but the oil used is kerosene or paraffin oil, so the fuel is relatively cheap.
It may get dirty with soot, so you have to perform regular maintenance.
It creates a fantastic atmosphere with gentle light that sways and sways.
(3) Gas lantern
Lights are lit by burning gas stored in a cloth-like mantle.
The light is so strong that the whole site becomes bright at once.
Gas and mantle are exhausted, so you need to buy them every time you run out.
(4) LED lantern
This is a battery-powered and rechargeable lantern recommended for beginners. The point is that you can use it anywhere.
Since it is a light type and does not use fire, there is no need to worry about the tent burning or getting burned.
The duration is long, but the brightness is weak and the color of the light is whitish.

moderately authentic
Recommended for those who say, "LED lanterns aren't enough," "I want to enjoy a little more mood," and "I want to enjoy a higher-grade camping."
As you can see in the photo, our camping style has been upgraded since using this light.
The warm light gently blends into the natural space of the camp.
The point is that it is easy to handle while giving it a full-fledged look.
Since the ventilator, glove, glove guide, and bail are integrated, once you learn how to attach the mantle and how to ignite, you won't have to worry about difficult operations.
It is safe even for beginners because it can be ignited, extinguished, and adjusted with a single knob.
How to use
The special mantle contains two mantles in one bag.
There are wires on the top and bottom of the mantle, which are used to fix it to the burner.
After removing the glove, make sure that the mantle line is vertical and connect it to the groove of the burner and fix it with a wire.
Perform "Karayaki".
The burner is ignited from the bottom of the mantle and burned to complete ash.
Be careful here as the mantle is very fragile.
Replace the glove and attach the gas can and light it.

How to clean up
Here is the soft case that comes with it.
It is large enough to fit the lantern body.
There is a pocket inside to store the mantle.
The design covers the whole with a cushion, so you don't have to worry about getting hit.
Be careful
Beware of burns
The lantern gets very hot while it is on and for a while after it is turned off.
If you accidentally touch it, you may get burned, or you may drop the lantern due to a shocking momentum.
Be especially careful if you have small children.
Difficult to use in cold weather
When camping in cold winters when the temperature is close to freezing, the amount of light will be reduced unless you use a gas can for cold climates.
Especially in the cold season, it is recommended to buy and use a gas can for cold regions, or use an LED or oil/gasoline lantern, although it will cost a little more.
Need accessories
To use a lantern, you need to purchase a gas can and a mantle.
If it breaks during camping, you won't be able to turn on the light, so we recommend that you bring a spare when you go camping.
