Use

Create a dent at the tip of the branch to hold the arrowhead.

How to make

• Process 1

  Create two V-notches on the front and back of the branch.

• Process 2

  Create two V-notches on the left and right sides of the V-notch in step 1 (rotated 90 degrees).
  It will be used as a point for splitting, so making it deeper than the V notch in step 1 will make it easier to proceed.

• Process 3

  Make a crack in the wood grain from the bottom of the V notch in step 2 toward the V notch in step 1. It's okay if the crack is just a hangnail.
  It's easy to make if you use the knife like a lever.

• Process 4

  Make a crack in the wood in the same way from the V notch on the opposite side of step 3.

• Process 5

  Bend the branch with your hands to split the crack from step 4 up to the V notch from step 1.
  It is easier to break if you use the V notch in step 1 as a fulcrum and push or pull the V notch side in step 2.

• Process 6

  Using the V notch from step 1 as a fulcrum, bend the step 2 side into an L shape (toward the V notch from step 1) and break off to complete.

Important point

In step 5, if you bend too hard, the branch will break, so apply force gradually to break it.
